Africa 2

A partially-tilled field.

Some palm trees at the Maison des Jeunes, the youth hostel where we stayed in Bamako. I didn't really see these anywhere else, so I wondered if they were decorative, but the Maison de Jeunes... Let's just say it didn't seem to be targeting tourists.

We got to tour the countryside a bit when we were in Bamako for the mid-phase camp. Nobody told us what we were going to be doing, so I wound up climbing mountains in flip-flops, with one bottle of water, which ran down partway through. I remember complaining, "This isn't just stupid... It's dangerous". Some lovely hills, regardless.

Africa 1

Julia and Scott are leading a donkey cart full of sand, which we will mix with another type of soil to create planting soil.

The group, tilling rows of earth to create a garden for the village women. This was by far our longest work project.

My host family in Mali. I may have been the only Canadian to remember everyone in their host family's name.

Me and Dinding.

Back in Canada, rocking the Malian look.
